A Turning Point

Angela and Sunny

The FreeZone Youth Activity Center, established and staffed by the Taipei branch of the Family International, holds Bible classes, and offers counseling and other activities to help Taipei’s youth build a positive outlook on life and become good citizens. The Family’s young people also go to places where teenagers hang out and reach out to them with music, skits, games, and more. Many lives have already been changed for the better. The following personal account is by Angelia.

During my third year of high school, while I was preparing for the college entrance examination, my best friend attempted suicide because her boyfriend broke up with her. Jesus rescued her life, and I was thankful for this, but in order to prepare for the examination I was unable to cope with the pressure of comforting her. Though I was feeling guilty, still I selfishly decided not to contact her any more. That was until one day when she called me.

I found out that Jesus had changed her very much. She was not only happier than before, but she was also willing to forgive me for having let her down. She took me to attend the Bible classes with the Family, and I prayed and accepted Jesus. At the beginning I didn’t have much faith, but later on, after I myself broke up with my boyfriend, I no longer had any hope in life. It was then that I read an article titled, “My Heart Belongs to You.” It was a letter from Jesus, in which He explained how much He loved each of us personally. After reading, I was so touched and I cried for a long time. It was then that I finally decided to begin the 12 Foundation Stones course with the Family.

Through studying God’s words carefully, I have made great changes. I have often thought how if it wasn’t for Jesus I would have a serious case of depression. I was sensitive, proud, lacked love, and continually compared myself unfavorably with others. On top of that, I had a very bad temper. But Jesus really changed me. His truth brought me freedom, making me much happier than before. I no longer have so many worries, and my relationships with friends and family have improved. Right now I’m training to help others to also get to know the love of Jesus.

I will graduate from university soon. While my classmates are worrying about the future, I am not anxious at all because I know that Jesus is taking care of my future. I hope that Jesus can use my testimony to let more people know of His love for us. I also hope that more people will entrust their future and their worries to Jesus, so He can help them live happier and more fulfilled and meaningful lives.

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).—Angelia
