The Family International Africa

Mandela Day
Nelson Mandela’s birthday is celebrated every year throughout the country but last year it became an official United Nations Day.
Aid Distribution & Charity Shows
The Family International in Port Harcourt has endeavored to assist our community however possible. Throughout the last two years, various families who have fallen on hard times have received needed food and household items, along with finances for school fees and/or to help meet payments.
Food Distribution Scheme, Nairobi
Weekly Feeding Program highlights: Food staples e.g. maize, rice and beans are regularly distributed by our Family Care Missions volunteers.
Food Distribution
Through sponsorship from the Lion’s Club, Durbanville, we received over ten tons of rice, samp (cornmeal mush), beans, and split peas to distribute. Volunteers helped unload this massive amount of food and piled it high on 16 palettes.
Kigo Women's Prison
We have been supporting the efforts of one of our long-term Ugandan colleagues by soliciting donations and counseling for the women in Kigo Prison.
HIV Positive Widows and Orphans
Over the years we have donated substantial quantities of income-generating goods to the Akutwala Ekiro Women's group, which cares for over 400 widows and orphans in Mbuya.
L'Arche Uganda
L'Arche Uganda cares for a number of physically and mentally challenged young people. They do an excellent job and we've assisted them on a weekly basis for several years with donations, food, income-generating materials, and programs for the young people.
Katwe Orphans and Kakoni (Mpigi) Village Center
We were able to donate income-generating items to Pastor Livingstone who has 70 orphans in Katwe, which enabled him to raise school fees for many of his school-aged children.
Little Angels Orphanage
Volunteers from the Family International painted the Little Angels Orphanage in Rubaga, brought donations of needed items, and a set of the STEPS programme sponsored by a Danish volunteer.
Gulu Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Refugee Camps
A local pastor, Charles Ochieng, helps us with the distribution of relief at the Cwero and Kora Bili IDP camps in Gulu, and also in Laroo, where he has a number of orphans he and his colleagues care for. Apart from raincoats, boots, warm jackets, bedding, school books, etc.
