Investing in the Future

Proverbs 22:6 says, “Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it.” That is one of the foundation principles of our work with orphanages throughout Nigeria. These are bright children with the ability to succeed, given the opportunity and proper instruction.

To that end, we recently provided two orphanages and a primary school in Enugu State with sets of three early learning resources by the Family International: Early Bird Readers, the STEPS course, which lays firm foundations of faith and moral values, and the Feed My Lambs Bible memorization course for small children.

These courses contain teachers’ instruction manuals, student books, CDs, flashcards, worksheets, activities, and lots of fun extras such as stickers, bookmarks, certificates, diplomas, and more. We also provided seminars and workshops in which we demonstrate in detail how to get the most from the courses. The children’s teachers have the desire, dedication, and enthusiasm to help their young pupils grow into responsible adults, and now they have some much needed tools to help them do the job.

We also help the orphanages with regular donations of food, clothing, shoes, infant supplies, school supplies, and more, as well as cash income via the Family Care poultry farms and other avenues.
