Jesus' Birthday Party

Joanne

It was fun from beginning to end for 300 underprivileged children who attended our Fantasyland Christmas party. Upon arrival, the children burned up some of their excess energy on a bouncing castle, swings, slides, tunnels, climbing frames, and train rides before (somewhat) slowing down and moving on to the game room, complete with prizes for all. Sponsors provided cold drinks, ice cream, and a giant cake. Youngsters showed their talent in a dance contest, and children from the Family International’s Port Harcourt center performed Christmas carols and stories about the reason behind the holiday season. After a hot lunch, it was off to the cinema—a first for many of the children. For the grand finale we distributed Christmas gift bags stuffed with toys, school supplies, toiletries, snacks, and more. As the buses, vans, and cars pulled away full of very happy children whose arms were loaded with goodies, our volunteer team waved goodbye, exhausted but very happy to have been able to share Christmas love with these dear children.
