Purpose and Goals in Life
- The War of the Worlds
- -- A call to action for all those who truly wish to change the world for the better We believe that each person who responds to Jesus' call to follow His example of love and to bring His truth to others is engaged in a war of the worlds!
- Change the World!
- In 1913, a young man about twenty years old took a walking tour in the rural province of Provence, in southern France.
- A Declaration of Love
- As Christians, we believe in love!--Love for God and others, for "God is love."1 That's our religion--love! Love is everything, for without love there is nothing: no friends, no caring families, no loving fathers or mothers or children or happiness or Heaven.
- Hallelujah for Happiness!
- In many religions the more the devotees suffer and the sadder they are, the more religious they are considered to be. But for the born-again Christian, it's supposed to be just the opposite!
- "What Manner of Man Is This?"
- He came to Earth as a tiny, weak, and helpless baby, born to a simple, humble young girl who miraculously conceived the child, having never slept with any man.
Controversies, and Social and Ethical Issues
- Love without Partiality
- You see and hear it all the time--discrimination against minority races, minority religions, and minorities of all kinds, from governmental oppression and persecution to prejudiced individuals with their rude jokes and antagonistic behavior.
- Playing God?
- Someone once wrote me with the question, "is it right for medical science to 'play God'?" The case in point was a court case in the UK involving a pair of conjoined [Siamese] twins.
- It's What You Choose to Believe
- How did the universe and all that is in it come into existence? Did some inexplicable event set off the process or was it the work of an intelligent designer?
Relationships with Family and Friends
- Serve One Another in Love
- "Through love serve one another" (Galatians 5:13). That phrase from the Bible is food for thought, especially when you consider that the Greek word translated here as "serve" is douleuo, which means "to be a slave to.
- Marriage Advice
- --Can we put the "magic" back in our marriage? First of all, you are not alone. Many couples are head over heels in love before their wedding, but it usually isn't long before reality sets in. And that's not necessarily a bad thing! It's all part of the growing process.
- Raising Happy Children
- Is there a secret to raising happy, well-adjusted children? It's no secret but, yes, there is a key: love--your love and God's love!
Overcoming Problems
- You Can Overcome Your Past
- Most of the unpleasant things that happen to us are like bruises or minor scrapes to our spirits, but at some time or another most of us experience a deep wound or serious injury to our spirit. We can't always keep ourselves from being hurt.
- Comparing--Friend or Foe of Happiness?
- Comparing ourselves with others! We all do it in one form or another. We want to be better, stronger, more beautiful, more gifted. It's part of human nature to compare and be competitive, and for some it becomes a deeply ingrained habit. Comparing isn't always a bad thing.
- Communication Tips
- --How can I help someone who has difficulty opening up and communicating? By Maria Fontaine Most people who are very quiet and withdrawn don't really want to be that way.
- Overcoming Vices
- We all have habits, both good and bad. Anything we do automatically, consciously or unconsciously, is a habit. Good habits such as tidiness, courtesy, punctuality, or good manners are a wonderful thing. But when the habit is bad for us or others, it's what is known as a vice.
Why God Allows Bad Things
- Why is There Suffering?
- Nearly all of us have asked this question at one time or another. The answer hinges on two basic truths: First, most suffering is not due to so-called natural causes. In other words, it's not according to the way God intended for things to work; it's not His doing. It's man's doing.
- Why Does God Allow War?
- Wars are the ultimate manifestation of man's selfishness, greed, pride, and competitive spirit and have caused untold suffering throughout history. The Bible says, "From whence come wars and fightings among you? Come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?" (James 4:1 KJV).
- Why Do the Innocent Die?
- Why does God allow so many innocent people to be killed by natural disasters like floods, earthquakes, hurricanes, etc., over which man has little or no control? To truly understand the answer, it's necessary to believe in God and a better life after this one.
- Why Racism?
- Why isn't there racial and ethnic harmony in the world? Harmony in a world as wracked by tension, strife, prejudice and violence as the one we live in today? We have all seen or read about the horrors that can result when animosity escalates between people of divergent backgrounds.
Working Smarter
- Love Is the Most Important Thing!
- Some years ago when I worked with two secretaries, Laura and Anne, we discovered together an important lesson in human relationships. Both Laura and Anne were hard workers--really tops in their field, the best at what they did.
- Pressure!
- Two time-tested steps for shedding stress When it seems there is much more to be done than there is time to do it, it's easy to get under pressure. We think we're not getting enough done or are not getting it done quickly enough, so we push ourselves harder.
- How Can I Get More Done?
- It just seems like there aren't enough hours in the day, and I find myself putting off the most important things I need to do. It sounds like you need to learn to manage your time better.
- Friction in the Workplace
- What can I do to avoid the friction I've been having with one of my associates at work, and to open better lines of communication with this person?
- Financial Troubles
- I'm under a lot of financial pressure right now. With the economy the way it is, business is slow and I've lost much of the income I need to keep on top of my bills. I've prayed for God's help, but is there something more I need to do in order to receive His financial blessings?
The Spirit World and Supernatural Phenomena
- Miracles
- Did miracles actually happen in the past and do they still happen today? The Bible contains many accounts of miracles.
- Is Meditation Beneficial?
- In a sense, meditation is really prayer, it's getting in tune with the spiritual. It stands to reason and follows logically that if you obey God's physical or even psychological laws, you will receive certain benefits from them.
